The Joyce Family, who managed to raise over $15,000 for The Kids’ Cancer Project as part of their Christmas Lights Fundraiser, have received a letter from their local member, commending them for their efforts.
For the second year, Tony, Bec, Shylah and Ryder have transformed their home to a Christmas cathedral, where the entire community descends upon their Shepparton street to view the breathtaking display.
With the help of their local community, the Joyce's put on quite a party. Once a simple display with Christmas Lights and Santa visits, the fundraiser is now a month-long festive season fiesta. Attendees can win raffle prizes and Santa always makes a visit. All proceeds go to The Kids’ Cancer Project, bringing us closer to our dream of no child dying from cancer.
The $15,000 total tripled their goal of $5,000. Tony says he is simply delighted with the outcome.
"Thank you all for helping us achieve this incredible milestone. Together, we’ve not only spread holiday cheer but also made a meaningful difference in the fight against childhood cancer.
“Let’s keep this community spirit alive and look forward to an even brighter Christmas next year!"
The altruistic efforts of the Joyce’s captured the heart of their local member, Kim O’Keeffe MP. O’Keeffe says she is proud of the entire Joyce family, along with the entire community that supported the event.
“Last year's remarkable effort of nearly $5,000 seemed like a high bar to surpass, but tripling your fundraising tally is truly commendable and something you should all be incredibly proud of,” O’Keeffe’s letter to the family reads.
“Bec, Tony, Ryder, and Shylah, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the example you've set for our community, the incredible funds you've raised for charity, and the happiness you've brought to so many.
“Congratulations, and may you enjoy some well-deserved rest, knowing you've made a tangible and lasting impact on children who face the toughest of challenges.”
